The Lost Wisdom of Ayurveda
The ancient medical science of Ayurveda has been serving the man kind since 5000 yrs. It is one of the most potent tools that is lost under the veils of western medicinal knowledge. Ayurveda is a comprehensive system that is designed to help people achieve their dreamed longevity and life in health and happiness.
Ayurveda explains all aspects of health as well as the causes of disease, using the teachings of the five eternal elements and the three doshas. According to Ayurveda, three channels ida, pingla, sushmana which correspond to parasympathetic and two sympathetic channels, by understanding the functionality of these channels and the organs related to the seven plexuses lead to the rectification of many ailments at root level with much better efficiency and accuracy.
The fifth Veda mentions that the Ayurveda requires the churning at subtle level to understand the principles of managing various diseases in humans. This medicinal system stems from the ancient Vedic culture and was taught for many thousands of years in an oral tradition from accomplished masters to their disciples. The history indicates how the literature of Ayurveda was ruined and Vaidyas burnt the precious literature themselves in order to save it from going to the hands of unauthentic people at the time of foreign invasion.
To protect the legacy of this sacred science of life, the Guru shishya prampra started later on where the knowledge was given only to the eligible disciple. Almost lost techniques like Nadi praksha , Marm chiktsa, and many other ayurvedic practices remained alive and found its way by the means of Guru shishya Parampra only.
These practices work miraculously to cure many ailments which are still considered to be incurable according to western medical system. Ayurveda does not focus on disease. Rather, Ayurveda maintains that all life must be supported by energy in balance. When there is minimal stress and the flow of energy within a person is balanced, the body’s natural defence systems will be strong and can more easily defend against disease.
All we need to do is to create awareness of such practices and associated benefits of these ancient medicinal practices. As an ayurvedic practitioner, I believe that there are many areas in Ayurveda where we still need to delve deeper to find many other cures and practices.
One of these are ayurvedic cures for pandemics which still need further research. Harnessing their powers can possibly prove to be a boon, all we need to do is spend time and energy on researching and developing these practices to gain validity. Once developed and researched, these ayurvedic cures can curtail the spread of dreadful diseases like we are facing these days. Embracing Ayurvedic medicinal system can lead to a better ailment free living, it’s the time to find out the roots of and look for the solutions which require evidence based studies and research for the betterment of man kind.
